19th Specialization Course in International Criminal Law on “Human Rights and Criminal Justice” (Siracusa, 2-10 June)

The International Association of Penal Law (AIDP) is sponsoring the 19th Specialization Course in International Criminal Law for Young Penalists on “Human Rights and Criminal Justice”, that the  Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights is organizing  in Siracusa (Italy) from June 2 until June 10, 2019.

Professor William A. Schabas, Professor of International Law at Middlesex University, chairs and coordinates the course, assuring the highest quality of education administered by some of the most erudite academics and researchers in the field of international criminal law. This year’s confirmed instructors include Christine Van den Wyngaert, Judge of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers and former Judge of the International Criminal Court, Elies van Sliedregt, Professor of International and Comparative Criminal Law at the School of Law of the University of Leeds, and Salvatore Zappalà, Professor of International Law at the University of Catania, former Legal Adviser to the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations and Editor-in-chief of the Journal of International Criminal Justice, amongst others.

The Siracusa International Institute will select 60 participants who should have a university degree, ideally in law or with some studies in law, and be 35 years of age or under. Provision may be made for auditors who do not fulfil these conditions. Furthermore, the Institute will offer 10 scholarships to applicants from Developing and Less Developed Countries.
