M. Cherif Bassiouni, A Man of Many Flags

M Cherif Bassiouni was a towering figure in international law. He was personally connected to some of the most historically relevant moments of the past century: the Suez War; the Camp David Accords; the fall of Muammar el-Qaddafi in Libya and the establishment of the International Criminal Court. A true global citizen – raised in Egypt, educated in Europe and emigrated to the United States – his life cut across cultures and religions.

We are all struggling with different problems in our professional and private lives that the pandemic and the reaction to it created. The Eighth International AIDP Symposium for Young Penalists on "Contemporary Challenges and Alternatives to International Criminal Justice" will take place in Maastricht, the Netherlands, June 8th-9th 2020). It is hosted by the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University (UM) and organized by Renata Barbosa, Craig Eggett, Dr. Francesco Mazzacuva, Dr. Megumi Ochi, Dr. Miren Odriozola, in collaboration with UM and Young Penalists Committee of the International Association of Penal Law (AIDP).

Le livre "Alternativas al sistema criminal latinoameriano" a été publié, avec les travaux présentés lors du Ve Symposium des jeunes criminels de l'Association internationale de droit pénal, qui s'est tenu les 5 et 6 août 2019 au Salón Azul de la Faculté de Droit de l'Université de Buenos Aires. Il était organisé par les Groupes Nationaux Brésilien et Argentin.
